THE cost of living crisis is making us all a bit strapped for cash.

Which means revamping your home may be the last thing on your list due to affordability.

But that doesn’t mean to say it’s not achievable as one DIY fan proves.

The woman, who goes by the name of renovationhq on TikTok, managed to completely transform her staircase for less than £50.

She shared a video of the renovation to her 19.2k followers and captioned it: “We were too cash strapped when doing our renovation to afford a new staircase.

“So it’s the DIY treatment costing a mere £40.”

She first starts off transforming her 1950s crack stairs by purchasing Pine Glass based Softwood Moulding 2.3m (L) 15mm (W) 9mm (T) for £5.47 from Amazon.

The DIYer then filed those down, and sawed it to make sure it fits with the same measurements of her staircase.

She then glued to the staircase skirting.

Then she got some multi purpose Wood Filler, and filled the gaps.

The DIYer then purchased Wickes Pine Decorative Cover Moulding for £9.50 and glued above the moulding leaving a gap between.

She then finished it off by painting the skirting white and freshened up the walls by painting it a dark green.

The video attracted hundreds of other DIY fans commenting.

One wrote: “Looks amazing! I used a cheap hand saw to do the panelling, it works fine!”

Another added: “Great job! On point.”

A third said: “Gorgeous I’m going to do this, thanks for sharing.”

And a fourth simply wrote: “Stunning!”
